Small time flavor with access to world-class elegance. That's Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. Kona is blessed with a feeling that big city life has passed you by. There's no end to the relaxation in this sunny town with the feel of Old-Time Hawaii. Here you can meander on a beach, stroll quaint malls with a tropical flavor, or loll under a breeze-kissed palm tree watching the cruise ships roll in.
The Big Island of Hawaii is larger than all the other Hawaiian islands combined. It is fast becoming the favorite island destination of any of the islands and for good reason. It has a myriad of cultural, natural, and just plain exciting things to see and experience which is difficult to exhaust in just one trip.
The Kona Billfisher proudly displays the artwork of renowned Kailua Kona artist Robert Thomas in the units. The Robert Thomas Giclée print of the original painting titled, Kailua Village, adorns the wall above the couch in the living room. This print represents an older look at Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. It includes the oldest church on the island, Makuakaua, and to the right is the Hulihee Palace.
Known for his realistic portrayals of marine and landscapes of the Hawaiian Isles, Mr. Thomas' love of the islands shines through his art. You can find Robert Thomas originals and prints a short walk down Alii Dr., towards old time Kona, at the Colors of Paradise Gallery, (located at Coconut Grove) 75-5808 Alii Drive Suite D, Kailua-Kona. Sadly, Mr. Thomas passed away a few months ago, but his gallery remains open and is run by his family.
